Thankful this morning that I do not have to be perfect in following rules, but rather have a heart posture of confidence in Jesus Christ that He closed the gap where I come up short and believe that I am covered by His blood.
We are not counted worthy by what we do and how perfectly we walk. We are counted worthy before our walk. The man on the cross next to Jesus did not get a chance to prove himself worthy by doing good and walking a perfect path. He was deemed worthy by Jesus simply because he professed his belief. We confess that Jesus Christ is our savior, and we invite him into our heart, and then we are transformed by his perfect love. Sanctification is a process, and we are not condemned.
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
